As Superintendents approach retirement, many reflect on how to continue to add value in the world of education.  You still wish to stay connected and want to discover your niche as a consultant yet COVID has changed how we interact with districts.  Dr. Gabe Soumakian, Retired Superintendent will share his research and experience for the multiple options you may wish to consider.  Learn how to set up your own Fictitious Business Name, Small Business license, and take advantage of all the hidden tax laws while networking in the education space.  Better understanding your STRS options before you retire and maximizing any Social Security benefits you may be entitled to. The CA Independent Contractors AB5 law and the ABC test will guide you as to the benefits of NOT being classified as an employee. More importantly, don't wait till you retire to set up your consulting business practice.

As a retired school superintendent, I have been fortunate to set up a consulting business practice and learned how to take advantage of the benefits to reduce tax liability and shelter funds for an additional retirement income stream. Bring a friend with you!
